Wieand is an award winning professional performer, vocal instructor, director and mom of three who calls Strasburg, PA home. She holds a Master of Music degree is opera performance from The Boston Conservatory and a Bachaelor of Music from Belmont University in vocal performance.

Wieand is the Kids Praise worship coordinator for Grace Community Church and directs their primary choir, Promise Singers. In addition to serving on the adult worship team, Wieand serves as a lead vocalist with Outpour Worship band. She is frequently contracted as an adjunct professor for the Worship & Performing Arts Department of Lancaster Bible College|Capital Seminary & Bible school for both musical theatre and opera. 

During her studies in Nashville, Katie performed as a background vocalist/studio musician for Word Label Group and Gaylord Entertainment performing with Martina McBride, Steve Green, Amy Grant and Nichole Nordeman. She has had the priviledge to solo under the direction of John Rutter and be featured on several occasions with the Boston Lyric Opera.

With a career spanning over 20 years, Katie has toured internationally performing operatic and musical theatre roles in addition to performing many leading roles locally at the Fulton Theatre; Christine Daee in Phantom, Cosette in Les Miserables, Fiona in Brigadoon and Marian Paroo in The Music Man. Between theatre roles, Katie spent a season as lead soprano in Voices of Christmas with Sight & Sound, Inc.


Katie feels blessed to be able to share her experience and skills with the next generation of performers.
Fickes graduated from SMU with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education (emphasis on vocal performance) and The Boston Conservatory with a Masters degree in Musical Theatre. She is certified in Levels One and Two of Somatic VoiceWork with Jeannette LoVetri.  She is an Equity actress who has lived and performed in NY and also in many regional theaters across the country. She has toured with Musical Theatreworks and ArtsPower, performing in original works. She has also worked at The Fulton Theatre in Lancaster.

Mrs. Fickes has taught high school and middle school chorus and has also directed and music directed for adult regional productions, as well as for children.  Mrs. Fickes can often be found  directing summer camps for Susquehanna Stage Co. and youth productions in the winter. Prior to joining the studio, Mrs. Fickes taught at Menchey Music for  five years.

Mrs. Fickes lives in East Hempfield with her husband, two talented children.

Poff, a coloratura soprano, is most noted for her works in Baroque and 20th Century Music. She is currently serving in the Music Department at York College in Pennsylvania. Her previous collegiate experience was teaching voice and music literature at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.  

She holds a Masters of Music Degree in Vocal Performance from Lee University and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Mars Hill College. She has had extended study with notable coloratura soprano, Chery Brendel, her former graduate vocal instructor at Lee University.  Her other instructors include Dr. Julie Fortney, a protégé of Burton Coffin, Karen Young, Rebecca Achenbach, and most currently, Baroque singer and musicologist, Julianne Baird.

She worked professionally as a Young Artist with the Asheville Lyric Opera singing in recitals and fulfilling various ensemble roles in shows such as The Magic Flute, Madame Butterfly, Lucia di Lammermoor, and Carmen. She is also an alumna from the esteemed Brevard Music Center Janiac Opera Company, and had the opportunity to perform in shows such as Sweeney Todd, HMS Pinafore, Rigoletto, and Dido and Aeneus.

Some of her more notable stage credits include: Marie, Daughter of the Regiment; Mrs. Hayes, Susannah; Gertrude Stein, The Mother of Us All; Lola, Gallantry; Nellie, South Pacific; and Maria, West Side Story.  Megan’s guest artist performances at UAH were the roles of Susanna in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro and Ana Gomez in Menotti’s The Consul.

She was also a professional artist at the Schumann Liederfest in Zwickau, Germany. This allowed her to perform German lieder specific to Robert Schumann and sacred works in such venues as Das Robert-Schumann-Haus ist ein Museum in Zwickau and Leipzig respectively.

Her choral works have included soprano solos with Schubert’s Mass in G, Mozart’s Requiem, Rutter’s Mass of the Children. She has performed the roles of Mary Magdelene in Jesus Christ Superstar! and also as Cosette from Les Misérables in Mass form at St. James Episcopal. She also performed in the Cabaret series Portrait of a Lady singing the songs of Diana Ross.

She has had the distinguished honor of singing The National Anthem at the Pentagon for the commanding officers of the Air Force for a promotional ceremony. Her most recent performance was in Broadway Theatre’s Rocktopia! as a soprano swing for NYCC’s choir.

In regards to teaching, as a vocal pedagogue, she has taught many area professionals who have performed in local theater venues such as: Sight and Sound Theatres, Fulton Theatre, Dutch Apple Theatre, AMT, PRiMA, Hershey Area Playhouse and numerous National Broadway Tours. Her students have also found success in acceptance to competitive graduate music programs, National Television spots and most notably, Broadway. She is a member of NATS and is currently involved with helping facilitate the next round of auditions locally at the Allegheny Mountain Chapter.

She is passionate about teaching all genres of music and has made it a mainstay with instruction to teaching voice. Historical reference, detail to communication with text, pedagogical technique are all foundational elements she instructs to her students.
